Steampunk has arrived at Fifth Avenue, in New York City!

As I was rummaging around the internet, I came across an intriguing photo series, which led me to a prognostication for the 2011.  For those who are in the know regarding going-ons in New York City, it seems that the tradition of holiday window displays has reached out to the Steampunk genre.  Bergdorf Goodman (website here, further store descriptions here), a high end shopping venue in the city, has chosen a Steampunk / Neo-Victorian theme for one of its stores this year.  I must admit to not being too familiar with said holiday window displays traditions (and any associated implications - say new fashion lines associated with the display), but I do wonder if these display will introduce a larger contingent of individuals to Steampunk?  That can be both good and bad, of course, but I admit to being surprised at learning of this development.  Nonetheless, to see the full photo-sets, please do pay a visit to The Courtesan Macabre's review of the display, or the Style Bistro for more photos!
